the church that i went to years ago didn't say which meds that you could or couldn't take. As long as it was prescribed by a dr it was okay, but if it was a street drug then it was of the devil and the devil entered your soul etc. I still don't understand that but whatever.

Consider this, I have yet to find a church that opposed its congregants using Coumadin, a blood thinner. Coumadin is the brand name of the drug Warfarin. Warfarin is rat poison. Now, if you were taking rat poison for any other reason, there would be a serious question of ethics and morality, and I don't think any church would support it. Marinol is a synthetic form of delta-9 THC found in Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Sativa. Marinol is used to treat nausea caused by chemotherapy. Because it is synthesized and cannot make you "stoned," AND because it used for a medical reason, I believe it would be just as Coumadin and would be unopposed.

If you need medication to treat the symptoms of a mental or emotional condition, it's really not any religious organization's business...And I'm sure the good Lord wouldn't mind, either.
But on a different note, while it's great that they can give folks medication to make them feel better, if people don't focus on the ROOT of the emotional or mental problem (dealing with one's demons) then they'll NEVER get better no matter how long they can curb the symptoms.

thomas above is completely ignorant of the Christian church. He doesn't know what he's talking about.
As for your question, I don't think there is a problem with that. The Bible actually says to give strong drink to the dying to ease their pain, so taking that principle and applying it to drugs, I think it carries over just fine.

1 Corinthians 6:12
All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

If the Doctor prescribed a medicine for your own good health, why not? it is for your own good. God says take good care of yourself and I will take care of you.

I don't think the Catholic Church has any beef with that.
And anyhow. The church is your spiritual doctor. Your doctor is...well, you get it.
