Do you put your kids in the size clothes that go with their age? Like if child is 12 or 18 months do u put them in 24 months sizes etc. etc. I have never gone by the clothing size cause they shrink and some are made small. My son is 100% in age group. He is 2 1/2 and wears 4 or 5T shirts and 3T pants. Anyone else like this. 2 and 3T shirts shrink and show his belly. He is very slim but tall. I am 5'10 and dad is 6'3. I am about to have a girl and have been buying her clothes bigger too. Just curious to see how many others do this.

I go by what fits my daughter. She wears a larger size on top than on bottom. The sizes are just an avearge anyways. The pounds listed aren't always correct either.

I always buy them bigger. My son is 3 and average size for that age, but the clothes that are 3T are still either just fitting him or too small. I usually buy bigger, and with my other son who is now ten, this has been the case all along for him too. I think the companies do this so that you will by the size by age and then after a couple of months, you will have to go out and buy more clothing. Also beware of cotton, it shrinks, and a 3T now is barely a 2T. I suggest always buying ahead, and if it is too big for them, they will always grow into it.

Hey i have the same problem. My little girl will be 3 next month. I'm 5'10" myself and my husband is 6'2". u just exspect that your going to have tall children. My daughter is Really tall and super skinny. I just by the clothes that fit her best. When she was a baby she fit the sizes pretty well. I would suggest u get some of each size in the starting sizes. Also go by how much your first child weighed. that can help also. they dont always follow the size chart that clothing people have set up . and congrats on the new arrival

Hi. I have a son who is also thin but tall In my experience, Gymboree clothes run small, Gap runs big, and Old Navy clothes run true to size. I LOVE adjustable waistband which most mall stores have. My son is 4 and needs a 5 for the length only. The adjustable waistbands are a godsend! If I were you, I'd buy only a few things for your baby girl since your not sure what size she'll be. As for your son, I'd shop around until you find a brand that fits him well.

I do the same thing. Mine is a tall thin kid as well - So I always have to buy the bigger tops for length. If I can share one thing with you - Old Navy saved us. I can't vouch for the baby clothes because I didn't discover the store in time - but for the kids clothes, the shirts are longer and cut slimmer than anywhere else I know of. It's the only place I can buy her clothes right now that are long enough that she's not swimming in them width-wise.

I actually buy some of my two-year-old son's clothes smaller -because he's a little guy. He still wears some 18 month stuff. There are some things he wears that are 2T, but not much. And my four-year-old daughter I prefer to buy a size (5T) up so she doesn't grow out of them so fast. And my five-month-old baby girl I put in roughly the right size. She's still in 3-6 month stuff.

When she was an infant I bought according to her age, that way I could buy this ahead of season and know what "should" for her when the occasion came. Now she's 3 and wears 4T, but I'm thinking it's time to start buying size 5. She's tall with broad shoulders and skinny hips.

i agree with your experience! my boy sounds exactly like yours! but then i had my little girl 3 months ago... she was 2 lbs lighter at birth (6lb 14oz), and didn't grow into 0-3 month clothes until she was over 3 months old! we bought a bunch of bigger clothes for her, but ended up having to buy "preemie" and "newborn" sizes after she was born. by the way, she wasn't a preemie, just little! :)

No, my girls are pretty much on their size with their age but they both are on the smaller side. Go with whatever fits your child so they are comfortable.
