He's lost at least 5 pounds. He eats, but doesn't gain. I wormed him with store bought meds and that didn't help.He licks the bathroom door that's painted who knows when with flat paint. He used to tear his hair out but when I stopped the cat treats he quit. He is 8 years old and neutered long ago. he's eating the same food and dry food.

Take cat to vet!
If you can't afford vet, call local humane society for recommendations of low-cost providers.

He's definitely due a vet visit. There are so many things that can cause weight loss apart from worms that if you're worried it would be good for him to have a vet exam and perhaps do a blood test to rule some of them out, especially if his behaviour has changed too.

As for the wall-licking, the only thing I can think of is a displacement activity due to stress of some kind. Did you move house/have builders in/get a new cat recently or anything?

He must go to the vet!!Please don't put off a trip to the vet for any reason. I am a vet assistant and I can tell you that You must get prescription wormer. The over the counter ones don't always work and even the prescription ones have to be repeated a few times sometimes.Call your local Humane Society to see if they can direct you in affordable veterinary care if that is the problem.I would hate to see your kitty suffer when it could be as easily fixed as a stool sample and a prescription wormer. Different worms require different dewormers sometimes. Please don't let this go another moment, if left untreated he may die,and 8 is very young for a kitty to pass away.

I would definitely take him to the vet. He could have worms although he is getting over the counter wormer. I used to buy that for my cats but one of them got worms anyway. So now I always buy from my vet. He also could have stomach problems because of the paint. I would definitely have him checked out.

You need to take him to the vet. Could be lead poisoning if there is lead in the paint.. don't wait.

Yake the cat to the vet... and ask him to put your cat u for adoption. You're too stupid and heartless to own a cat!
