Maywood it the LA town CBS is made up 50% of illegal immigrants, where they took down the US flag and put up a Mexican flag at the post office last year.

Since Nunez is 'passionately' pro-illegal immigrant, I wondered if this was connected. Also, Nunez is putting a measure in the ballot to extend his term (applicable to all, but he's the one, with Peralta, who want it in the ballot.) I'm trying to figure out if there is really a police problem I hadn't read about or if this is due to the police and illegal immigrants locking horns.

"The 28,000 residents of Maywood – a small town of just over one mile square that proudly proclaims itself 96% Hispanic – are experienced at defending themselves from oppression. The "Maywood revolution" began last fall, when residents rose up against their police chief, who routinely had used roadblocks to confiscate the vehicles of undocumented immigrants and sell the cars for public revenue.

Maywoodians threw out their city council and mayor in the November elections, an election in which nearly 100% of eligible voters cast ballots, and replaced them with representatives who promptly disbanded the police traffic division, demanded an audit of LAUSD, denounced the Sensenbrenner anti-immigrant resolution, endorsed drivers licenses for all residents, and proclaimed Maywood a sanctuary city, where the police would no longer check immigration or citizenship status."

Does anyone know how the allegations against the police came up?

And here's a more mainstream discussion of the town dismantling the traffic department of the police department in response to police impounding cars of illegal immigrants who drove without a license.

Does anyone know what is going on?

hockey g - I'm pretty sure Maywood passed an ordinance allowing people to vote 'regardless of citizenship' in city elections. I read that somewhere, anyhow. I honestly think there is more than illegal immigration going on here. Where did the money come from for all of this? These people don't have money, and this isn't a situation where the ACLU is stepping in or anything.

And I don't know this website, but what it says I've read around. I guess I'm wondering if drugs are involved and if this is an attempt to get a police department more cooperative with elements police departments shouldn't be cooperative with.

What do you think?

I think that the only investigation that needs to be done is how many ILLEGAL ALIENS voted these people in. It is a well known fact that illegals register to vote. It is against the law to ask them to prove that they are a citizen. All they have to do is check the box that says they are a US citizen and of course we TRUST them to tell the truth!!!

Most assinine arguments I have ever heard. Police are profiling because the people they randomly stop are Latino? in a city that PRIDES itself in being 96% Latino I would say that is the law of averages.

Where is our government? Here is a city that states it is 50% illegal and we do nothing? They dismantle law enforcement because it doesn't suit them? What's next? they will pass a law where it is ok to shoot anyone inside "THEIR" city that is not Latino?

Try setting up a Non-Sanctuary city. Let's say we set up Costa Mesa California as non-sanctuary. Do sweeps and kick all the illegals out. How long do you think it will be before the US government sends in the troops to defend the "rights" of illegals?

This is total crap. I am writing my representatives and telling them they had better start doing something. I think that publically stating that your population is 50% illegal is more than enough probable cause to send in ICE and the US ARMY.

Of course. They are just bringing the Mexican style of politics here to the US. It wouldn't surprise me if our politicians are not already bought and paid for. Look at Johnny Sutton in Texas. California needs to wake up. Our politicians need to wake up. Reconquista is alive and well in Los Angeles.

This is horrible. I've been looking for an update on this since the old people and blondes were attacked (and the mexi flag raised at the post office of all places). I'm very disappointed with the number of sanctuary cities we have in California. That alone is illegal and a threat to patriotic Americans, including the majority just trying to go about their business and not taking a politcal stance on the issue.
