Good books for learning buddhism?

Can anyone direct me to the best books (that are simple to understand), for someone who is interested in learnig more about Buddhism?

Go to your library and get any of the Dali Lamas books.

They are easy to read and understand.

You already received an excellent suggestion to read the book "WHAT BUDDHISTS BELIEVE"

It is from "the way of the elders" {a Theravadan Buddhist Perspective).
**It is an excellent book.

Also there is "The Beginner's Guide to Insight Meditation" By: Arinna Weisman and Jean Smith
which is also from a Theravandan Buddhist Perspective. Excellent beginner's book.

I have read and studied from both these books.
Most Excellent reading for the purpose of application.

You also already received a suggestion to read,
"Open Heart, Clear Mind" By: Thubten Chodron.
who is a Buddhist Nun, and it is from a Tibetan
Buddhist Perspective. Also excellent, I have this book as well. It's excellent. Thubten Chodron was one of the first author's I ever read on Buddhism, which really sparked a sincere interest within me to become a student of Buddhism.

All three of these books are excellent sources for a beginner such as yourself, to learn from.

There is no conflict in teachings within these 3 books, they all compliment the Buddha's teachings, providing much clarity and insight into the Eightfold Path of Buddhisms, and much more.
