Go to the vets first, there are some skin disorders that make them smell. Its pointless changing his food if he's ill.
It could be his teeth, then maybe he's licking himself. Or it could be his ears or anal glands. The vet will help figure it out.
In the meantime it won't hurt to bathe him as long as you rinse and dry him properly.

Either your pup has rolled in something nasty or you are hyper-sensitive to the natural smell of a dog. There is a product called Thiotrol. You just spritz it on, comb it into the hair and let it dry. Don't wash it out. It works wonders on eliminating skunk odor and I do mean eliminating not just covering up.
I used it for the first time last year at my grooming shop and was so astonished at the effectiveness that I ordered a large stock in for customer purchase.
You might have to go to the vet or a groomer to get hold of it but it is well worth the trouble.

First try to determine where the smell is coming from on your dog. Check her ears, then check her breath, then her coat.
If it's her ears then a trip to the vets is in order because it just may be an ear infection. If it's her breath then a trip to the vets is still in order to find out if she has any dental problems.
If it's her coat then get a good shampoo for pups. Check to make sure you really get down to her skin when washing. Rinse her off really well and towel dry her.
Good luck!

It could be a result of a poor quality food. Check the food and see if the first ingredient is a meat product. If it is then you may want to try more fequent brushings and a teeth cleaning. If you are giving him table scraps then stop. Finally, if you see him scooting his bottom on the ground this is a sign that his anal glands are impacted and need to be squeezed and could be resulting in a foul odor.

Make sure you hoover your home everyday and wash his bedding every week
If its the actual dog that smells then try a visit to the vet, its possible your pup could have a skin infection. The bacteria will cause the awful smell

There's this product called Dinovite. (www.dinovite.com) It comes in a powdered form and you make dog biscuits out of it. Not only do the dogs like it BUT it takes away the odor, breath and body.It really does work.

Have to agree with Kaz. Have your dog checked by your vet before going over the top with baths and doggie deodrant.

my dog has issues like that. .We took her to the vet and they said she needed her "anal" glands cleaned. They did it, and showed my mom how to do it. My mother is so disturbed by this she has to make the vet do it everytime.lol. The older the dogs get, the worse it is. you have to stick your finger up there (please wear rubber gloves), rub it around the walls, and wait a day. IDK! nasty stuff. Have the vet do it on a checkup
