You pee in a cup. Often a "clean catch" - meaning, they give you antimicrobial wipes and a sterile cup, you wipe yourself with the wipes before, start to pee a little into the toilet, then pee into the cup. The doctor's staff then uses special dipsticks that they euther pour the urine over or dip into the urine to see if anything is abnormal right away - this takes a minute, max. If there's anything abnormal on that stick or you have symptoms, they culture the specimen - meaning, they put it into this testing kit (looks like a little jar with a stick in it) and put it into an incubator (warm box) for 24 hours to see if anything grows.

usually they send ur urine sample for a test for the pH and stuff... if u have pain when voiding, have the urgency or feel that u still have more to void even after u urinate, the urine has a foul smell and is cloudy, its most likely an infection. im not sure if u have a urinary tract infection(UTI) kit at the pharmacy in ur country but in singapore we do have it. and there's an effervescence medication sold over the counter to treat UTI. other home remedy that can help is cranberry juice. if all else fails, pls consult a doctor.. get well soon..

They take a urine sample and do and dip a test strip into it. You can also get similar test strips at some stores and pharmacies to use at home. If the test strip indicates infection, they'll usually send the urine for a culture to determine the organism and start you on antibiotics.

Start drinking cranberry juice (not cranberry juice cocktail, but a juice w/ as much cranberry as you can find) as soon as you can or get cranberry capsules. A substance in cranberry juice (the tannin, I think) makes it difficult for bacteria to stick to the bladder wall. It can help A LOT w/ infection.

I went for this the other day, the take ur urine, but if you're still complaning you make a gyno app, then get a papsmear and let them check you out, because they can also tell by looking. I thought I had a UTI but ended up I have strept throaT! I went in got my pee test done, and then he wanted to check my throat! Turned out suprisingly it was worth the check because I have strept throat and got put on antibiotics right away. If yo have an urge to go to the bathroom it can be from a redness below thats irratating you, but also can be a UTI, just get checked to make sure, you never know, I was having UTI symptoms and other symptoms, but they said I din't have enough bacteria in my pee to be presribed an antiobiotic, they then saw my strept throat and gave me antibiotics, isnt that weird? lol Goodluck. I found thiws out in the ER...then two days later went to the gyno just incase I had a UTI I wanted to make sure!!

You take a small sterile cup from the pharmacy, pee in it in the morning, and then take it to the lab as quickly as possible. even better if you go there and fill the cup in the doctor's restroom, so that it's very fresh. Simple as that! Then the doctors take your urine and put it under the microscope, plunge some chemical strips in it, etc, and they come up with the result!
