My preference is the old fashioned way. With a 10" serated bread knife (good quality). The reason being thet everyone likes different thicknesses and some recipes for sandwiches require a thicker slice, where others need thin.

Dang. Now you're making me hungry. I don't care if you cut it with a chainsaw so long as I get a big chunk of it. I could live on nothing but homemade yeast risen bread.
When my mother gives me a loaf, I cut it with a very large butcher knife with serated edges.
