If you are using your average consumer camera the images are saved as .jpg files and should be able to be read on your computer whether mac or pc.

A little trouble shooting...

- Take the memory card out of the camera, turn the camera on and push the review button. If your pictures come up then your camera is storing the images on the internal memory and not on the card. (Fixing this varies by camera, find a competent photo specialist and they can help you with that)

- If the images can only be viewed when the card is in the camera then the pictures are in fact on the card so the problem is between the card and the reader.

One common mistake is putting the memory card in the wrong slot of the reader (at least it is at the lab i work at).

If you have a...

Fuji or Olympus its probably an "XD" Card

Sony - Memory Stick

Kodak, Cannon, Nikon, or just about any other brand it will either be "SD" or "Compact Flash" these two are easily told apart from each other... SD is about the size of a postage stamp and Compact flash is a little smaller than half a pack of orbit gum (using whats on my desk here)

If after making sure the card is in the right slot on the reader... does the computer make the "duh duh" noise that it found new hardware (win 98 and later)? Can you open the card on the computer and see the folders (either a box will pop up and ask you if you want to open the card, or you can go to "my computer" and it will show a little image of a card and it will be like the "G:" or "K:" drive. If you can see the folders on the card the pictures are in one of the folders, click through them and you will probably find them. if you click through them all and there are no images, then I can't properly help you here... take it to a photo specialist and have them look at it.

We had an analogous element take place with our Olympus digicam. We used an unique Olympus memory card although. We have been informed by potential of client provider that the cardboard readers in specific circumstances try this. We now not use that function of the pc, we in simple terms connect the digicam to the pc via USB cable. Strongly propose which you not plug the cardboard into the pc back. If the cardboard is in simple terms 3 months previous then i might return it to the producer. it continues to be coated by potential of guarantee. Olympus replaced our card.

you have to reformat the card...

Look in your camera's manual (or tell me the model) and it will tell you.
