Well, let me tell SOMETHING all of you! I have lived in Mexico with my grandma+ for 9 years even though I have been a permanent resident of Texas since birth. Spanish was my first language so, coming here to U.S. was hard. Had to learn English, get acustomed to another country was hard. I been here for 7 years after coming from Mexico. So, a typical day in Mexico when I was a child would be wake up, eat breakfast (milk and bread), take a shower, maybe go grocery shopping walking like 2 miles in the unpaved streets, carry all the heavy bags, come home, get ready for school, ask grandma for money 50 cents, in US would be like 50 cents in the US currency, and walk like 1mile or more to get to school. Sometimes the weather was good, other days bad, it reallly did not mattered as the street was unpaved., but there was just sidewalk to walk. So, I really don't know much as the work environment, the only thing that I know is that most of the families are left with 100 pesos or 10 dollars to buy groceries, maybe 2 pounds of beef, beans, corn tortillas, ham, some fruit, for 2 weeks. Can you imagine your pantry/fridge with only 10 dollars of food for 5 people for a period of 1-2 weeks?? So the reason immigrants come to the U.S. is to work. So simple. To work. That's all. To support their families, to live a better life, to have some of their own. So, I have live in Mexico and the United States, I understand why they want to come here. If I was an immigrant and were to choose between Mexico and the United States (even though I am a permanent resident of Texas/U.S. Citizen by birth) I would choose the US. I lived under the conditions most Mexicans live and currently live in Texas, I know how it is. So, what would you do if the US. was still part of the British at this moment. The year 2007. Would you immigrate to another country? For example to , Mexico, Latin America countries, South America??????????? What the US be, How would the US be if the Declaration of Independence was NEVER written?Have you read the Declaration of Independence, the link is below. What if the British were like or worse as they were before. You see what I am saying? Would you migrate?? Why?(there is a link on illegal immigration) Imagine a U. S. Citizen immigrating!!!!!!!!!!!! Why? Because there is so many taxes, such as economy, social welfare, education, health care, slavery, prostitution, crime, legal protections, public services, and human rights.(If US belonged to the British)I now it's the year 2007. So think about how immigrants feel. Put yourself in someone else's shoes. Look at Arnold Schwarzenegger. Wasn't he and immigrant, now the Governor of California? I am saying that all immigrants want to be governors, but they do want a better living. They pay taxes, follow traffic rules, ect. I am not against or for immigrants as everyone once in their life was an immigrant or came from immigrant ancestors. Let me know YOUR opinion.

Why not the USA ? Our do nothing government doesn't seem to care any more.. They seem to have the welcome mat out. The illegal alien has no reason not to come here. If our Border Patrol tries to enforce the federal laws of this nation (against the illegal entry into the USA) they are put in jail for doing their job.
Unless this government gets a huge wake up call from its people ,this nation will soon become just another third world poverty ridden
country. Remember the illegal aliens are the majority in the country they ran away from. Look at those country's . Is that really what you want for America. ?
Its not any form of racism to want to protect this country, its love of our nation and being a patriot. We must help America stay America.

No we did not "steal " the southwest from Mexico. They were defeated in a war. They were then paid millions of dollars for the land.
Stop believing the propaganda generated by the pro illegal lobby. Its a lie and you know it.
I live in Arizona,do you want to see the deeds to my home,my ranch and my businesses ?
They show who the owner is and its not Mexico or will it ever be Mexico. Give that uninformed, unintelligent rhetoric a rest. Its really inaccurate and childish.

Why are "americans" so racist and closed-minded? You are just so selfish. Most of these "americans" have most of their services provided by someone of hispanic origin. As a salvadorian female born and raised in the united states, I believe that if the illegal immigrants knew the hell they would go through once they were here they would never come. Damn, I mean, I see hispanics working their butts off paving "citizens" roads, making the fancy office buildings where all you racists make your money, and cleaning the bathrooms you people fill with sh*t; all for a fraction of what they should be paid. i know most of you would not want to do any of those things because you think too much of yourselves. oh, and then i see the black people that live off of Section 8, food stamps and TANF. They actually take advantage of all those services because they have acess to them unlike illegal immigrants. The most help an illegal immigrant can recaive from the government is medicaid for their children who are born here and maybe food stamps. And that's because they are illegal and most government services are provided with proof of legal residency. As a apartment complex manager, i have never, ever in my 5 years as manager, seen 1 person on section 8 who was hispanic. NEVER!! That's just what I think. I think I'm more civilized than half the a**holes that are on here.

The vast majority of the illegals in the U.S, are here because it was the only place with work at decent wages that they could walk to. If Canada was South of the U.S., they'd go there instead. Oceans are much more effective immigration barriers than fences.

because not only is there so much poverty in Mexico or other countries, they do jobs that we as citizens wouldn't even think of doing, and besides that the pay, plus they may not do their taxes, but they pay them with everything that they buy, and the work they do, but the aren't getting tax returns like us, so just think about in that way, they might be here but is cause they have to, they no choice, they are just trying to make a living the best way they can, cause specially in Mexico even the people that don't want to come over here, in the us; they try their hardest, to make a living and its hard, everyone put themselves in there shoes, and then say something cause we as tax payers, get crap in this country, by this government yet no one complains. So just let them be, as long as we keep ourselves happy that's all in reality that matters.

Gee who says they aren't wanted. The politicians; the farmers; the home builders; the landscapers; the meat packers and hundreds of more industries want them by the thousands because they can pay them less and get somebody who wants to do the job.

Another reason they pick the US is because it is very easy to get here. All they have to do is cross a river and sometimes a dessert and if they get caught they are sent back free and then all they have to do is cross the river again. If we do not protect our borders there is no reason to think they won't continue to cross. Where we have built barriers it has slowed them down and forced them to go to other border areas to cross.

To Steve, try and learn this little thing called HISTORY before displaying your ignorance. We didn't steal their land, Mexico lost a war against us and we BOUGHT the mentioned territory from Mexico through the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, in which both American and Mexican parts agreed and signed upon. Nothing stolen there.

Did you know that we only house about 9% of the immigrant/refugee population? China takes the largest amount. Who doesn't want them? I know many people who would be unwilling to do the work of an illegal immigrant. If you believe they are taking jobs you would want consider what they actually get hired for. They are hired difficult labor for basically no pay. Is that something you would want to support your family on and risk your life and freedom doing it?
I highly doubt it.

They come to America because of a better way of living, resources, money. And I have to agree with some of your answers. I don't think that it's fair. It's ruining or economy, most legal americans have trouble finding jobs because most of these illegal immigrants work for slave wages, and we americans wants what's due to us. They don't have any problems living in poverty because it's what they are accustomed to. They should be turned away like the Cubans, Haitians, Asians. And be forced to have to go through and obtain citizenship just like everybody else does. And now they are fighting to give these people health care services and the right to vote! Crazy. I'm not trying to sound like Barbara Bush here but It's frustrating. I'm not against them coming to America but the way they are doing it. And what's going on with home security, that's allowing these people to get here? Then I have to agree on the fact that when you do come to America learn how to speak english/american. If you are not here legally then you should be sent back to your home land. That's why when they raise minimum wage most of those people are going to be out of a job because why pay someone higher wages, when you have someone who will accept like $3 in hour? And some immigrants get like 7 yrs. of not paying taxes when they come here.
