It is possible to grab the hook or the bucket but shouldn't we just put that down to experience in the greater journey on this large canal we call life?

It's questions like these that make me realise it's time to take the bull by the horns, as the boot is now firmly wedged on the other foot, and the opportunity for accepting no substitute has passed.
Perhaps I should round up the lads for a quick game of word association football. Although, the last time I tried that, I found it was along way to Tipperary on the road less travelled.

Barge poles, large canal is life. Can't answer you. No points of reference. I could perhaps talk about the pits in cherries, and life that is like a bowl of cherries. Or maybe the asteroid that is on its way to earth.

Indeed I think you are right again, Mrs! After all, it is far easier to go with the flow of life down this canal, and on occasion, we all get the hook one way or the other.

Of course it's ok to get the wrong end if you look for a deeper meaning. But don't be surprised if it get muddy !!

Not too sure what u mean. ! But yes life is one giant learning curve the secret is to learn from your mistakes and don't take it personal when things go wrong, thats my own experience anyway.
