Exercise before eating breakfast.
Exercise again at least 3 hours before bedtime... (will rest better)..do second set before dinner.
Eat well balanced meals on a routine schedule.

Your (sets) are fine.

Forget anything called "diet." People just enterprise off you.

Sit-Up tip:
Cross arms over chest, (not behind neck or head) come up about half-way....hold a few seconds...back down slowly (just until shoulder blades touch floor....repeat

You need to do some kind of cardio exercise to burn the fat, at least 30-45 minutes daily. Try walking, even marching in place (do some leg kicks and knee lifts for 1 minute intervals each every 5 minutes.), biking, etc.
Continue to do situps and side situps, any ab exercises that will firm up and build the muscles underneath the fat. You want to show them off once the fat is gone, right? Check out http://www.bodybuilding.com. Under the supersite, click on the exercises or workout tabs and you can find all kinds of info exercises for specific muscle groups and create your own routine based on what you have available to you.
Quickly about your diet - eat healthy, and drink lots of water. Try eating 5-6 small meals every day about 2-3 hours apart and don't eat after 7pm if possible. This will help kick-start your metabolism.

Tip: Stay active and make exercise a part of your lifestyle. The gut only goes away with a healthy, balanced diet and exercise.

You should cut out all ****. Cutting out a lot is not going to give you the results you want. Drink clean water instead of artificial drinks. Learn to eat healthy foods by reading-up on what's good for you.

Crunches are better for your back than situps. Aerobic exercise and strength training along with a good diet make a healthy lifestyle that will end up giving you a flat stomach if you stick with it.
