You can.
Let's say you're used to eating meals on a routine schedule.
Suddenly, you start skipping meals.
You're body goes into "survival mode." (starts storing fat)
The reason for storing fat is a good one....
Your body no longer trust's to be fed on a set schedule anymore and it needs to burn something for energy, in the case you stop feeding it.

If deprived nutrition.....body stores fat at every chance....fat can be burned as a survival factor....after all fat is burned, body tissue is next (this is not good)

Note:
Your body will eliminate the majority of fats if you eat well balanced meals on a regular schedule. (keep moving, of course)

No. If you don't eat anything you will get very sick. You risk becoming infertile, will have more chance of developing osteoporosis later in life - or heart problems. You will feel the cold more. The chemical changes in your body will affect your brain and distort your thoughts, making you feel depressed and anxious. And your body will slowly begin to shut down. Anorexia probably has the highest death rate of any other mental illness out there. Don't allow yourself to fall into that trap. It's not worth it.

If you wish to lose weight do it in a healthy way. Try to enjoy your food. Eat small amounts of good food regularly - this will help your metabolism to keep ticking. Combine this with some exercise each day and you'll do even better. Aim to be healthy - not skinny. :-)

You don't get fat, but you get fatter.

Explanation:
when you don't eat anything your body goes in starvation mode. In starvation mode, your body burns the muscle down and keeps the fat. So, after fasting, you weight less but the proportion of fat is way higher. Plus, your metabolism slows down because fat is metabolically slower than muscle, therefore you will gain weight more easily.

Technically, you can't gain weight from not eating. You will initially lose weight, but as referred to in the previous answer, your metabolism will slow down and begin to store fat as a protection against perceived starvation.

Let's suppose that before you stopped eating, your body burned 2,000 calories per day. Now you starve yourself and your body adapts by slowing the metabolism so that you can get by on 1,500 calories per day, then 1,000, and so on. If you continue to starve yourself, then your body will begin burning what you have stored. This includes your muscles and organs, and it's very bad for the heart.

Sooner or later your body will give in to the urge to eat more, and now 2,000 calories is "overeating" as opposed to maintaining your body.

Food deprivation makes for a very poor weight control plan in the long term. It's better to eat healthier foods that don't tend to get stored as fat, and excercise to raise your metabolism and burn more calories.
