I had a little boy cat that disappered for 3 weeks. One thing I might suggest is (although this sounds silly) if she has had a scare and is hiding somewhere she will need some form of comfort. What I did , and I am sure this is what worked, is put something on like a t shirt or something so that its full of your scent. Then cut into little peices and scatter them all around - basically to leave a little trail. Cats will and do follow the scent, even if it rains they will still pick up on your scent really well. I did this and my boy came back two days later.
I know what its like, its the worst thing in the world just not knowing. But never give up - there was an article in the paper recently where a ginger boy came back after 3 years!!!!
I really hope you find the poor lamb, I remember every day phoining my bpyfriend who got home before me asking if he had returned and was disapointed every single day. Never give up shouting for her. I even had to put up with cruel jokes where kids would phone fromt he advert saying they had my cat and when I went to collect it they were giving false addresses it was awful.
The very best of luck, fingers crossed for the sweet pea xx

I feel for you i really do. How old is she? Could she be pregnant? she may have gone off to have babies. I know it's daunting but have you rang the Council Cleansing dept to see if she has been knocked over and the cleansing has come to remove her? Im sorry for asking that, but im trying to be practical. Has anyone seen her at all? Cats do have second homes my mums lives at her for 5 days then spends the other 2 down the road. Good luck i hope she comes back soon. xxx Ps has she done this before?

My female cat is spayed and her brother from the same litter (who belongs to my friend 2 doors up the road) is neutered and yet they tend to wander off together.Usually just for a few days but once 4 years ago they went off and were gone for almost 2 months.
We tried everything to find them with no joy. Then she just wanders back in 1 day as if nothing had happened. Her brother turned up at my friends on the same day.
They were in perfect shape,we reckon that he hunts for them when they go off (she is a crap hunter).Their vet says it's likely they wander more than most cats because their dad was a Scottish Wildcat.
However I've heard of fully domestic cats being gone for over a month and coming back safe too.Don't give up.Keep looking.

Hopefully she is spayed and just being mischevious, and yes I have heard of many that return. The cryingy you describe by her sister may mean they are in heat. Your missing kitty may be hunting to mate as nature tells her to do. If so, she will likely come back pregnant. Spaying them will greatly help the roaming AND the pet over population problem.
In the mean time, take a look at the shelters in person. They are often overcrowded and understaffed and I've seen people find their own pet after being told (over the phone) that there was NOT a pet matching that description in the shelter. It will help give you peace of mind.
I sincerely hope you find your dear kitty!!

my moms cat was gone for about a month and he just started mewing at the door one day....your cat is probably being fed by other people or is she fixed? if she isnt then she might have found a mate...i hope she will be back soon...and the cat crying...comforting your cat will definatley help...if she meows in a certain spot (kitchen, bedroom, livingroom, etc.) try to keep her away from that room...if iin a room you have food and/or litter box you would hae to move them to a different room..also sewtting up a certain rom or area thta she can have all of her excessoreas (toys, food, water, litter box, etc.) will help...also any time you play with her that area would be a good place to do it...also isuggest getting her a lot of new toys...so she wont smell the scent of the other cat...crowding th ecat with accesoreas such as cat post and toys can help but dont crowd to much because you want her to be preaccupide not suffocated...i hope my infromaton can help you...best of luck to you

the longest I've had a cat disappear for and come back safely is 10 days. I think he was shut in somewhere. But my sister had a cat that just decided to move. She came back for a visit after 2 or 3 years but didn't stay. You have done everything you can do except pray and hope for the best.
I hope she returns safely.

My cat went missing for 2 months, we had basically accepted that she wasn't coming back... we thought the worst had happened... But then after about 2 months we had a knock at the door, someone from a street away had her come into his house and socialise with his cats, and decided to stay there XD
The chances are she has just found somewhere else to stay for a bit. Im sure shes fine, and will probably come back :)
They never really travel that far. so she will be okay

Hi, Oh i feels so sorry for you, i do hope she is safe and well. My cat Sweep went missing once and he came home after 1 week. I was so relieved. The uncertainty makes you feel ill, and of course you are heartbroken. I do hope she comes home soon, sometimes you know cat's have 2 homes and also people think some cat's are strays, and take them in but once the cat get's fed up they go home. Thinking of you all, please post in answers when she does come home...

Sorry to hear about your loss, I too went through this some years ago with one of my cats, your cat could be under either your house of someone's else house, have you tried there, sometimes they are trapped and can not get out the way they got in, this was the situation with my cat, it was lucky I heard him cry out and so did the person who lived where he got stuck. Ask your neighbors if they have heard any cries of a cat lately, sometimes cats won't come to your calls as they are frightened when stuck under houses so you must coax them out with some food, treats won't work I have tried that twice from my cat getting stuck under homes and buildings, guess you could say he was notorious for getting stuck in those places but he soon learned not to do that and we never had a problem after that.

She will be back!!! 2 of my cats have done that, tootsie went missing for two weeks and she returned to the door meowing, fit and healthy but was starving. Socks went missing for a week, he was down in the neighbours garden playing with her cats and getting fed, i went out looking for him everynight and he just suddenly appeared! Cats are funny animals, they will go where there is food and they will return when they want! Dont worry, as long as she knows where she lives.. SHE WILL BE BACK!!
