Hello, I use to take Zoloft 50 mg a day. It didnt help me right away so my doctor up'ed the dose to 100mg a day. I was taking it once a day. If I forgot to take it I would get dizzy and have severe headaches. It seems like you are having side effects from going off and on so many different medications within a period of time. I was like that myself. I was on effexor, then lexapro, then I got switched to something else I dont remember the name and then finally zoloft. Zoloft helped me the most. When I finally decided that I was going to go off of it I just stopped taking it. I felt I was fine. I had some headaches for about a week or so and then they stopped and I am doing pretty good now. I will consult your doctor and see what he or she says but it seems to be normal. If they continue for more than 3 weeks I would def. consider switching. Good Luck and I hope you figure out what you need.

How should I take Zoloft?

Take Zoloft exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Zoloft may be taken with or without food. Try to take the medicine at the same time each day.
The liquid (oral concentrate) form of Zoloft must be diluted before you take it. To be sure you get the correct dose, measure the liquid with the medicine dropper provided. Mix the dose with 4 ounces (one-half cup) of water, ginger ale, lemon/lime soda, lemonade, or orange juice. Do not use any other liquids to dilute the medicine. Stir this mixture and drink all of it right away. To make sure you get the entire dose, add a little more water to the same glass, swirl gently and drink right away.
Zoloft can cause you to have a false positive drug screening test. If you provide a urine sample for drug screening, tell the laboratory staff that you are taking Zoloft.
It may take up to 4 weeks before your symptoms improve. Keep using the medication as directed and tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve.
Do not stop using Zoloft suddenly, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Ask your doctor how to safely stop using Zoloft.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

Zoloft is not the kind of medication that you can take on an as needed basis, you have to take it everyday around the same time everyday. You will go through a yucky, sick, dizzy period for about 2 to 3 weeks, but the end results are great. This is a very serious medication, so please only take it per your doctor's advice.

I have been taking Zoloft on and off for over 10 years. I went off on my own, because I was feeling so much better and didn't think I needed to be medicated any longer. Then I almost had a nervous breakdown.

I am now taking 200 mgs per day by my doctor's orders.

People don't start taking meds because they "wanna", if you have Zoloft on hand then you should already know how much to take because only your Dr. can order the dosage, and that depends on many factors, age, weight, reason for prescribing it (it's used for other things not just depression, chronic pain for one).
For most Zoloft is a daily med not weekly.
Please don't put yourself at risk by taking it or any other prescription without a Dr's order.

Ask your Doctor. It should also tell you on the medication bottle how many times per day to take it. Zoloft is not for everyone. People taking MAOIs or pimozide shouldn't take Zoloft. Side effects may include dry mouth, insomnia, sexual side effects, diarrhea, nausea and sleepiness. In studies, few people were bothered enough by side effects to stop taking Zoloft. ♥

If your doctor is prescribing Zoloft for you, then you should know how much to take. If they were not prescribed to you by a doctor then you are taking them illegally. Anyone with any medical knowledge and experience will NOT advise you to continue taking this medication. Why do you want to take Zoloft? To keep yourself safe and healthy, find a doctor or therapist and let a PROFESSIONAL treat you.

It is best to consult your doctor. Many of us have alergic reactions
to common medication that other have no problems with. 50mg
is a light dose so you may need to change medication. It is in your best interest to be on the safe side.

I would suggest that you speak to your Psychiatrist or whomever prescribed you the medication. Antidepressant must be monitored by a psychiatrist therefore whomever prescribed you the medication must be the one to tell you how it should be taken because medications are sometimes prescribed differently for different people.

Yep sounds like you have 'normal' side effects' they should pass so persevere.

However check with the prescribing doctor, if that's not a Psychiatrist GO and see one.

Zoloft is intended to be taken at least daily, if you mess about with it it wont work it'll be your fault not the drug!

yeah, dry mouth is a side effect. you'll just have to take them for a while, and in a few months that should go away. just keep a glass of water near your bed for now.
