Don't cross that bridge until you come to it. You are right that it is difficult to determine signs between a close friend and an interest. However why bring it up only to potentially cause embarasment or insert your foot in your mouth. That suggestion can put undue stress on a platonic relationship. If you both are getting along fine then why rock the boat. Let it go unless you are confronted with it then just be honest about your true feelings.
