I have been dating someone for about six months. He is separated and through the final stages of a divorce, so I have kept things totally above board -- no physical contact. He had told me he would like to become intimate a while back, but last night I said I would like to, and he pulled back. At the end of our date, he gave me a quick kiss and hug, and left. I'd thought about asking him in, but he hadn't done much more than put his arm around me all evening (and immediately took it off again). I want to respect his boundaries -- he has as much right to say no as I do. He's said he doesn't want to get hurt -- and he knows I am not after marriage. Is this relationship worth pursuing? The lack of physical intimacy is making me unhappy, and I feel like I must have misread him somehow.

I think what you need to do is just have a proper talk about it. Six months is a long time to be like this. If your relationship is going to go anywhere, you should be able to talk about it together. Hopefully it'll do some good.

Good luck! =]
