Where was the plant?
Was it and ornamental yard or house plant?
If so you could you be dealing with other chemical agents other then the plant it self.
Stop to consider could some one have use a pesticide, anti fungal or herbicide on this plant before you made contact.
Could it be a combination of these and the plants own cemetery that caused the reaction.
Could it be an allergic reaction to one or more of these agents that caused a lethargic reaction for that is one of the symptoms common in some allergies.
Was there any other symptoms itching, rash or soreness in the contact area.
Some times only one symptom persist where as other have several symptoms.
It could well be not just the plant but the plant and other agents working together to have this combined reaction.
Hope this was of some help.

You may have misunderstood, I made no implications as to drugs legal or otherwise.
The combine reaction I speak of is as in Deodorants, Perfumes, Body Sprays and a host of other skin care products that women use quite often , even if all natural.
It’s in the combining of such agents with the aggressive chemicals in care of plants ( herbicides, pesticides, etc etc) can at times have a divers affect.
If you thought I was accusing you of drug abuse , I assure you that is not the case.

Two things come to mind, 1. Ergot poisoning; 2. natural or organic LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide). Both are hallucinogens and may or not cause drowsiness.

Unless you experienced lucid dreaming or hallucinations I don't think either one caused your reaction. If your drowsiness onset a couple of hours later, then look for a different cause. Natural exhaustion. Lack of sleep the night before. Something you ate or drank after your contact with the plant sap. If you are still in doubt, locate the plant and have someone knowledgeable in botany (college professors can be very useful) look at a sample.

Good luck.
