If you are simply a visitor for pleasure or business and intend to stay less than 90 days you may enter the U.S. with a valid, machine readable, passport. Both Ireland and the United Kingdom are on the list of countries. If you were going to do work other than what falls under "B-1" (which equates to WB in Visa Waiver Permanent Program speak) both countries require a visa.

The U.S. checks criminal records through policy outlined in various treaties that they have with different countries. They probably could check through Interpol also.

An previous-shaped Irish passport continues to be an previous-shaped Irish passport. It relies upon on what you're doing contained in the united kingdom. in case you're occurring vacation & you're there for far less then ninety days you do not opt for a visa. in case you're intending to vacation contained in the united kingdom for extra then ninety days yet a lot less then 6 months you opt for a visa. in case you opt for to stay & artwork contained in the united kingdom, you opt for to renew that Irish passport once achieveable because as far because the British authorities will be worried you're an American citizen with an expired Irish passport & as an American citizen you'll opt for a visa to stay & artwork contained in the united kingdom.
