My 8 yr old cat thinks my bed is hers. She bites when I get in bed & stops when I get out. What should I do? She loves to cuddle when watching TV. She loves being brushed. When I sit on the edge of the bed, she begins "stalking" me then her ears go back and she attacks my legs and ankles before they go under the covers. Once I am in bed, she will scratch my head, when my hands appear to lower the covers, she bites them. When I get up to clean the bites, she follows me and rubs my legs like a normal cat. If I attempt to get in bed, the attacks start again. She is happy if I don't go back to bed. She then crawls under the covers and sleeps. This is getting worse I am now only getting about 4 hours sleep at night and I am wearing about 6 band-aids. What should I do. Using a water bottle when I'm not awake and not wearing my glasses could do damage to wood floors and electronics. HELP!

I forgot to add - cat does have all her claws. She has always been indoors do to wild critters were we used to live and we now live on a major street. I can't close the door, we remodeled and it's a new oak door. I read on another posting to play with the cat lots then feed them and they go to sleep. Didn't work. She expects really nice canned food at bed time. Thanks for all the support. It's off to the vet to see if there is a reason besides territory that she is aggressive. I want to try everything I can before giving up.

I've run into something like that before- though it was usually with younger cats. If she starts the biting routine. close her out of the room. She's going to have to learn that biting is not acceptable. And even if she doesn't, you'll get a good night's sleep!

my cats kinda do the same thing, but they are biting my toes because i move my legs. Anyhow, they just want to play and they do think it's their bed because it kinda is! I would try playing with her on the bed before bed time and see if that helps. She might just want to play before bed. Get a laser pointer and just have her jump off the bed. If that doesn't help and she keeps doing it, i would gently toss her off the bed, when she started her fussing and keep doing it as long has she get the idea that your not going to take it!

Stick some cat training things around your bed, they don't like the smell and will stay away, its also nicer than smacking it off the bed in a half-sleep state!!Or kick her outside, can't believe someone would put up with this, anyone messes with my sleep that badly and I turn into a raving lunatic!

sounds such as you have one perplexed cat. One minute he's relationship it. the subsequent dominating it. that's infatuated and protecting of the kitten i think the older cat's never been around a kitten until now and would not understand the thank you to sense. Like on of those video clips while some loner guy has to shield a teen.

Maybe she thinks it really is her territory...
:)
animals really can be dominant sometimes.. i dont blame your cat... its like thier instinct to have a territory so its no problem at all. you can just make sure that she is not in the room before you go to bed. she'll get used to not having your bed as her territory soon!

best wishes and i wish you and your cat good health!

Lock her out and get her her own bed. Get one of those sleeping bag style cat beds.

Hey, maybe show it that ur the boss. If it bites you yell at it. If it gets worse, you get worse. I dont mean abuse it or anything bad like that. It helps with my cat.
