Once a cat pees on your rug it will continue to go there because of the smell. You need to go to a pet store and buy an enzyme cleaner designed for pet odours (there is one strictly for cats that works quite well). Shampoo your carpet with the cleaner & keep the cat out of there for a few days by closing the door. You will have to put a litter box by the door & over the course of a week or so keep moving the box closer to where you would like to keep it. Right now its a habit for your cat to go in your bedroom & you are going to have to break it.
Keep the litter box as clean as possible. Everytime you notice something in it remove the waste - some cats don't like dirty litter boxes. If you changed the type of litter at the time your cat started using your bedroom - that may be the problem as well. Some cats don't like the silicone litter, some cats don't like scented litter(my cats) or if you changed the litter box to, say a covered one (some don't like those either). Go back to what you were using before if you had changed anything.
Good luck. Hope some of this helps. Cats can be obstinate little things and any little change in their environment can disrupt their world.

First, get your cat checked out by the vet - your cat may have an illness that is causing it to go outside the box. Behavior measures won't do any good if your cat is sick & doesn't get treated by a vet.
If a vet rules out illness as a possible cause for the behavior, you'll need to consider that there may be a problem with your litterbox - something about the box, the litter, or its location that the cat doesn't like. Your cat may need a larger box to move around in comfortably, the box might not be clean enough (very important!), the box may have absorbed odors and need to be replaced, the litter may be hard on a cat's paws (try Cat Attract litter from the pet store), if you're using a litter mat it could be hurting the cat's feet, other pets, people, or loud appliances may frighten the cat while it's using the box, if you're using a scented litter or air freshener near the box the cat may dislike that, or your cat may need two boxes instead of just one.

Ahhhhh, I see your problem you cat could be associating his cat box with pain, and you best remove the odor from your carpet in order to stop him/her from resoiling the carpet you can do that with a simple solution of Vinegar and water mixed in a half bucket of water, sponge on the vinegar and water solution till there is less odor, then wash the spot with dishwashing detergent and water then rinse with clear water, then make a final rinse with vinegar and water again, thats it and sop up the moisture with a towel then put dry towels down and place books on them over night by the end of the next day you can take it off the spot and it should be dry and odor free, if not you may have to replace the padding under your carpet it's possible the urine soaked through to your padding and then of course you won't ever get rid of the odor. I too had this problem with one of my cats but he was sick at the time and very old but I was able to get rid of the odor with those solutions I told you about but only because I caught it quickly and it was never allowed to penetrate through to the padding underneath. Good Luck ! I'd also like to say that the litter you are using could be the wrong type of litter and also an abrupt change in litter can make a cat do his business else where, cats are funny they like to do their business where it is clean and if there is a dirty litter box they won't use it, best to clean that out and also a good cleaning with Vinegar and water will take out some residues left behind when it soaks through the litter make sure you rinse your litter box out real well else the cat won't use the box give it several rinsing outs and dry out in the sun for about ten minutes before putting in fresh litter.
