It’s widely known that Windows Vista sells is beneath had expected. No wonder! It’s quite source-consuming; therefore, to make the most of Windows Vista most people will need a full upgrade. RAM memory and a new processor would be perfect. The question is are most people willing to upgrade their PCs to use a system that according to some specialists it is not that different (except for its the looks) from windows XP? What do you think?

No, i don't think it's wise to purchase Vista right now. There are many issues that this new O.S. has with it. Most of the drivers aren't even available for a lot of the hardware out there yet. There isn't a service pack out either to address some of the issues, but, i'm sure Microsoft is already working on releasing one. Vista is another one of those new O.S.'s that are going to require a lot of time to get the problems and quirks worked out. Just as Windows 98 , 2000 and XP took some time to get worked out, so will Vista. Also, the new system is quite pricey! I certainly wouldn't agree that the average consumer would be able to afford it and the Hardware requirements would also require major upgrades that i can't afford!
I would give it some time until they get most of those problems ironed out before i would decide to make such a huge investment.

XP works great! Why fix something that isn't broken? I'm sticking with my XP.

You're right, it's basically looks. But looks that eat up a lot of resources, and actually are not so interesting, anyway, once you've seen the fireworks, you'll turn them off because everything takes longer to open while the windows float around.... A lot of nonsense. For the time being, XP is the best choice. Let's hope Linux does a good job and becomes at least as user-fiendly as XP, and then it's goodbye Vista (& Ms) forever!

I run vista on my laptop, whereas our pc has xp on. It took a few hours to get used to, but it is generally nicer to use. However, I would seriously suggest waiting until it has dropped in price whether upgrades are needed or not, what it does is not worth the money they are demanding at the moment. Basically its got nicer visuals and is more secure (asks you whether it can start programs even if you have told it to, which on one hand is good because viruses can't run as easily, but on the other hand is a bit of a pain!
Its not as secure as they reckon though, else why would my laptop be supplied with norton antivirus?!

You answered your own question. Vista is getting bad reviews all around. I'm happy with XP.

Nope. Not until they sort out all the bugs and relax the DRM settings.
