yeah it slows it down. the more food you eat the longer it takes for you to get drunk. which is why some people eat before they go out so they can drink more without feeling the sideeffects straight off.

Yes of course it does, generally if youve not eaten then the stomach acids do fluctuate and you get drunk quicker because theres nothing to absorb it.

That said after a fashion you get bloated enough not to want to drink anymore so drinking on an empty stomach has a better effect than on a full one..

Thats why most people just have a light snack or a drink of milk before they go out on a session

yes, but only the time it takes to become drunk - barely. In other words, if I eat a pound of pretzels prior to drinking, the pretzels will absorb some of the alcohol and thereby delay the stomach's ability to absorb the alcohol. I'll still get drunk, just a bit slower. Also, eating food can't speed up your metabolic rate - LOL - That first comment is so totally ignorant! LOL

Yes- if I drink on an empty stomach..the buzz is quicker and better. It is really bad for your stomach...so I never drink on an empty stomach. I get the really hungry after 5-7 cocktails or beer.
Also- the best cure for a hangover- A Really Greasy Cheeseburger and fries.

If it is fatty food it can prevent the absorbsion of alcohol into the blood stream. The fatty cells coat the walls of the intestines and prevent the alcohol from being absorbed . But otherwise it just slows things down a little.

Well as far as i know they say that having a full belly helps the alcohol to be soaked up and will prevent people feeling sick and if you have an empty stomach you will get drunker quicker but you will also get alot sicker than if you eat first.

I think it will take longer to feel the effects of alcohol on an empty stomach, I think food may absorb some of the drink, but I may be wrong.

if you drink on an empty stomack you will get drunk faster...and take a chance of getting ulcers as alcohol is not a native chemical to your body......eating slows down the process by absorbtion....your body can comsume alcohol at a fairly fast rate....but can only get rid of 1 drink per hour(normal person)...so the alcohol can stay in your body for hours...days

Yes it does, if you have only snacked all day you will get drunk a lot quicker because there is nothing else in your gut to digest other than the fluid
