If an upper level boss did this in front of other employees or not, I would hire an attorney and sue for creating a hostile work environment. I would also make a complaint to the H.R. folks too and be sure your complaint was documented.
Not only is action like that unacceptable business conduct it violates all professional ethics.

Get recordings on his rants and cursing in front of you,. Get a mini tape recorder and start gathering evidence….
Then tell the idiot to jolly well respect you when you are at work.. Not to verbally assault you. If what he/she asks is against your job description tell it, “Sorry, but that’s not my job.”
Get fired then collect unemployment and laugh while the dumb company gets fined.

File a complaint with the work force commission, and quit no one should act like that and call them self a professional.

I would tell him to go to hell and leave it at that|
You might be surprised, he might then respect you and back off and leave you alone|
But even if you were fired for that or faced some other consequence, you have the satisfaction of knowing that you did the right thing, and the consequence of *his* ill treatment of others will catch up to him in the long run|

honestly i would start looking for a new job or complain to someone over his head nobody has to take that no matter where you fall on the food chain of life
