A person may or even may not be punished by the state law depending upon the presentation of the evidence etc...

But a person is sure to be punished by the laws of nature for killing any living being whether one knows or not. The nature's law are naturally working without our acknowleding it or not.
The sun rises everyday and sets at the end of the day whether we know it or it. It is going on automatically. Similarly, a person will surely be punished, the time being the separating element. The punishment may be today, tommorrow, in many years or even next life.

People are punished for killing an animal. However, they are not punished as they would be if killing a human. The human life is a higher life than animal life. Animal life is higher than vegetable life. If someone kills a tree, they also are punished, but not as they would be for killing a human. There are different levels of life that determine the punishment. The value of human life has the highest office.

I'm guessing that you don't have hunting laws in your country, Mohammad.

Here, in USA, you can get jailed for that!

To do any hunting, you need to wait for the season, then get a licence, which is very difficult to get and expensive, by the way! Then, there are only some specific animals that you are allowed to hunt; while most others you are not allowed to harm!

I guess you don't have all these limitations in your part of
the world, which is why you're asking this question!

Here, you do get punished if you kill an animal!

Cheers!

As Simon stated, there are laws against hunting, this is true. One must get a license to hunt, and if they are caught, they can do jail time or pay a fine or both.

As for cruelty to animals, this too is illegal. However, rather than it being a felony, it's a misdemeanor, even if the poor animal is tortured.

Animals have property status and not personhood, so killing or harming one will not render the same kind of punishment that killing or harming a human being would.

Cruelty to animals is a worldwide problem, especially since WWII, which is when factory farming started, at least here in the States. Factory farming is EVIL, these poor creatures live in fear, their lives are one big nightmare!

I am an abolitionist, which means that I support animal rights. There is a difference between animal welfare and animal rights. Animal welfare is when people want to ensure that animals, whlie being used for food and clothing and laboratory testing and entertainment, are being treated humanely and endure no unnecessary suffering. Abolitionists see it differently. We want to these practices altogether, to abolish the exploitation of animals for food, clothing, jewelry, experimentation, entertainment, racing, everything. We believe their legal status should change, from that of property (their current status), to that of person (non-human person of course). We believe they have rights to engage in their own natural behaviors, rights to their own habitat, and rights to live their own lives humans harming them, according to their own terms, whether they are "useful" to us or not.

LOL, my cat isn't exactly useful, all she does is sleep, play, and crawl on me, but I wouldn't dream of harming her.

I'm saying a lot, but I do walk the walk, 'cause I'm a vegan. I do not consume meat or any animal products like dairy, eggs, or any foods with ingredients from animals (casein, whey, gelatin, etc)

The Animal Rights movement has a long way to go. Exploiting animals is worldwide, and is part of every cultural worldwide. We seek to and legally change this.

Most states have laws concerning killing of animals.
Remember that God made coats of skins for the first humans to wear.
Before the advances in agriculture, meat kept people from famine.
If it came between saving a human life and an animal's life, the law places more value on humans.
The laws against cruelty to animals need to be strengthened and enforced.
Sometimes, killing animal is kinder than letting them starve or live in pain as in the case of abandoned or sick pets.

They are! If someone kills an animal intentionally (this does not include hunting for the obvious reasons) they are prosecuted. There was a guy in my area who starved a dog to death. They prosecuted him and he was found guilty.

If you're talking about hunting, that's different because it's seen as population control. I personally think that it's terrible, but I also think it's terrible to see all the dead animals on the road. So I don't know the answer to the over population of deer and such.

According to the Divine Laws any killing is wrong, except for bare survival. Human laws are short lived and they are unjust. Divine Justice is final.

Read "Rational Spirituality" available on the Dhaxem website, to learn how Divine justice works. If you understand them, you will not worry, but live in peace.

Due to the changing psychological and sociological needs, man resorts to different avenues for entertainment. Hunting is one of them.

Degenerating moral values and trust in religion is the main reason that people have become hard hearted and cruel and have taken resort to hunting/gaming as a source of entertainment.

In my opinion cruelty to animals should be punishable by law.

Humans are mammals=mammals are animals=humans are animals. For all the people who don't believe me, research your animals kingdoms please. (I'm pretty sure we're not bacteria or plants). Other animals deserve the same respect as humans do. Unfortunately, they rarely get it. There are laws put in place to try and reduce some of the ill treatment they get but they are rarely effective as torturing and killing animals is entirely legal. (Roast beef anyway? How about a fur coat? Was that tested on animals?). Our society needs to get its priorities straightened out, that's about the only answer I can give you. The world is a messed place. However, we can work for a change.
