I got my wisdom teeth removed last friday and the healing is going fine but i noticed the way that the doc stitched up my mouth, it leaves little like pockets in the back. Then last night when i was eating a piece of food (i think a piece of shredded cheese) got stuck in one of the pockets. The doctor didnt foresee this so i dont know if its normal. I tried brushing a little and got some out and mouthwashed it but i cant get all of it out and i dont want it to start growing something back there or start to rot.

You should call your dentist and ask him about.
The thing that might help is full mouthwash after every meal .
Water can do amazing things sometimes and go inside deep enough in those pockets. I desagree that you shouldnt brush back there. Cause you made the extraction last friday... the area must be as clean as possible but dont use excessive force so not to traumatize it.
If there is a suture and you dont have any bleeding ask your dentist to remove it .

The condition that can result from this food being trapped in your socket where the tooth previously resided is called "dry socket." And it is excrutiatingly painful. Your whole head with feel like it is splitting apart. You may want to rinse out the area with warm water, and for God's sakes, DO NOT stick your tooth brush back there anymore. Your dentist may have some antibiotics and/or analgesics to help relieve the pain associated with dry socket. He may also reccommend an otc suck as Tylenol to help witth the pain. If I were you, I would make an appointment to follow-up with your dentist right away to prevent getting dry socket.

My operation went smoothly. The thing was, I couldn't eat for around a week; I was living off of fruit smoothies and juices. It honestly wasn't that bad at all. You'll also be in a lot of pain when the numbness first wears off and maybe the next day or two, but they give you pain killers for that (or at least they did to me). By the way, I'm 16, so you may recover slower or faster depending on your age.

If you can't get the food out, talk with your dentist. I'm sure that s/he'd be able to get it out. And I would make the call sooner rather than later so as to avoid complications!

My dentist gave me a curved syringe (needleless) to rinse out my pockets. Give your dentist's office a call and get one of these.
