Summary thus, SUM is a short description of key points discussed, written or any data that can be generalized to show a theme or main point from smaller ones. A plot is what happens within the summary, it's attributes and their relationships to one another like... setting as relates to characters as relates to situation, etc.

The plot is what happens stage by stage, perhaps in a bulleted list.. The summary just gets right to the point of what happened in one paragraph.

A summary would be like a TV Guide description: "Jake and Jackie investigate the murder of a crooked politican."

The plot would be the story of how they do that, the particulars, the dialogue, etc.
