It is generally recommended that a toothbrush last about 3 months. Oral B has what they call "indicator bristles" that will let you know when it is time to replace it. These indicator bristles are blue, and when these bristles are blue only half way up, it is time to replace the brush. if you have a cold or are sick, it is best to get a new brush when you feel better.

Three months and you should rinse the one you are using is alcohol a couple times a week.

6 months, when it becomes "ratty" if that is before 6 months. If you become sick, with the flu or Strep or something like that, you don't want to use the one you used when sick cause you'll just make your self sick again.
