We have press here that blows everything out of proportion! And you KNOW for sure that no other area the size of the US as a whole, has as many serial killers? It's possible that they just don't refer to them as "serial killers" or don't have the capacity to investigate as fully as we do. Could be the fact that many countries do not allow the people to own weapons. Or that their police don't have to read miranda rights, or that they can use any amount of force they see fit without reprocussions! If I knew I would be beat daily in a Turkish prison, I probably WOULD think twice about committing ANY crime!
*****
You CANNOT say US has the most with 76%...while Europe has over that collectively! Those countries you mentioned are not NEAR the population or area as the US! Germany is about the size of Ohio! So then take ONLY one of our states for each one country you mentioned and see what numbers you come up with!

And what rock have you been living under?
The United States certainly hasn't cornered the market on serial killers. It may seem so because of all the hype over the release of the "Zodiac" movie, but they are everywhere. I mean one of the oldest and best known was Jack the Ripper and and I do believe that was, um, let me think now, could it have been England?

Pretty much the same reason we have McDonald's. The concept of a killer just got so boring to the media, so we had to create mini francises out deal. It was a clever marketing idea, because now if someone kills more than one person in a area it can become national news. Most other countries just have killers because of the lack media hype.

They don't. The media just isnt interested in serial killing outside of the US and Europe. So they dont report on it. So you dont know about it. By the way I think that on a per capita basis Belgium probably has more serial killers than anyone else :)

That is a flat out wrong statement.
What about the one in England, recently?
What about the one in India that was in the news, yesterday?
There are violence weirdos all over the world.
