She's started this stubborn habit of only drinking water from a glass. Whenever I get a glass of water she won't leave me alone!
Not only is it unhygienic, I also worry that she doesn't drink enough. I hardly ever see her drinking from her bowl.
Any ideas?

My cat is the same, when you get a glass of water, walk over to her bowl and pour some in. She will then start to get the idea to drink from her bowl. It will take a while for her to get the idea but she will eventually.

I SO have this problem too! I've ended up using a plastic pot, like the sort salsas and guacamole come in, on top of my water glass. One of the cats will still use his nose to take that off if I don't catch him.

Can you try raising the water bowl on a brick or so. I've noticed my cats prefer to drink out of higher up water, where they don't have to bend down.

I was worried about mine not drinking enough water. The vet said she might be getting enough from the soft food I was feeding her. Also, I found out she likes drinking the horrible algae water from the fishpond.

Yes I have ideas for you, you can first start by not allowing your cat to drink from your glass, and then doing this trick rub your finger in some fish flavor cat food then stick your finger while the cat is at the bowl with you and rub the fish tasting water on her lips all around from side to side so she will lick her lips, you must take her to her bowl when you do this trick, keep doing this trick with her until you finally see her going to her own dish, she will gradually associate this water as good tasting and go and drink her own water, remember stick with it and it will happen but keep your own water from her/him at all times break her/his habit. Good Luck !

cats have their own minds and will do whatever they want to. Just make sure you don't leave glasses out and she will drink from her bowl when she s thirsty enough.

Also it could be that she doesn't like drinking from the bowl on the floor or she likes the height of the glass, maybe try raising it up a bit?

how about you try to get a glass drinking bowl for her? sometimes pets cant see the water too well (as its clear) but the water can be seen better in the clear glass bowl as it reflects through it.

What kind of kitty do you have? Is she cute? what kind of personality does she have? cats are great!!!

Cats like to drink from puddles or fish ponds. There is a container outside my house and it fills with rainwater and my cat drinks from that. They also like to drink from a bowel which is wider than their head and whiskers, so at least 12 inches wide, and cats do not need much water.

ah well....it is like, when you feed, chelter and love a dog, he thinks you are God. But when you feed, shelter and love a cat, she thinks she is God.....ask her pleedingly and politly to please drink from your own bowl or you will get sick eating from mine :-)
