A printer dock is an accessory for some common cameras like cannon for instance. The idea is that you take some photos with you camera, then when you get home you sit the camera no top op the printer dock and you can then print 4 by 6in prints straight from the camera without a computer. Very good value indeed if you are satisfied by 6 by 4inc prints ! Cheers Pete

Printer docks are not necessary for any user of digital camera. They are bulky and can last only for so long. It is also expensive to buy sets of cartridges and paper. They all go in sets.
Digital Cameras allow you to download them to the computer and print it straight or use online photo printing services.

Some manufacturers, like Kodak, sell their cameras with printer docks. I've never seen the benefit of them, but you may find them useful if you like to print pictures straight from the camera.
I tend to do a lot of editing before I print, so I wouldn't have any use for a printer dock.

Hi,
You don't need and probably don't want a printer dock if you have a computer.
One of the main advantages of digital photography is the ability to adjust your photo on your computer before printing it.
If you plan to do anything to your images on your computer, and most of us do, then you don't need, or want, a printer dock.

not if you have a computer. Just hook that up to your pc with USB cable. set the software up then just print your pics off using a normail printer. if you dont have a pc, you need a printer dock they are mini printers that are made for a digital camera, hook the digital camera up to that and print them off. i think its more easy if you get a printer dock.

While it seems like a good idea at first...printer docks are okay, but not really all that convenient. First of all, a printer dock is simply a device that you can attach your compatible digital camera to and print off pictures straight from your camera....some packages such as the Kodak EasyShare also have software included that helps you sort of "clean up" any pics you take such as eliminating red eye, enhancing the color, changing color to black and white, etc.
I bought one because I was always horrible at remembering to get film developed and thought it would be so much more convenient, however, here are some of the things I've discovered after buying a Kodak EasyShare with printer dock kit:
1) After downloading the software program which allows you to organize your pics into albums, enhance your pics, and email them to friends...it also sent me emails to alert me of upgrades to the software. Well, once I downloaded the upgrade, I was no longer able to download any more pics from my camera onto the computer because it said my camera was not "compatible" with that version (no warning of this was posted on the alert prior to my downloading it). Plus, when I tried to access previous pics that I had taken, namely my daughter's 12th b-day, I was horrified to find that the upgrade I had downloaded had erased them completely from my system.
2) You cannot buy ink cartridges separate from buying paper, yet they sell the paper by itself. Unfortunately, I found this out after buying a package of 100 sheet photo paper for my EasyShare when i initially bought it and then later when I went shopping just to get another ink cartridge, that's when I discovered that you can't just buy an ink cartridge...you have to buy an ink cartridge and photo paper package which supplies you with the amount of paper for the amount of ink supplied. Hmmm....so what's the purpose of selling the paper by itself?
3) After buying my lovely digital camera/printer dock...thinking I would be saving myself some moolah, my best friend tells me that with your credit/debit card, you can go online to Wal-Mart, download your pics and even enhance them yourself and they will print them off for you for like 11 cents per picture.....which is way cheaper than buying the freakin' ink cartridge replacement and paper package!!!
So there you have my wonderful experience with my Kodak EasyShare package. I pretty much don't use the dock anymore...other than for a recharger for the camera!!!

i imagine that is real... the image printer dock cameras are nevertheless attainable. From the opinion of someone that works in a digicam restoration save (in Houston, Tx).... do no longer purchase a Kodak.
