Why are most questions relating to Witchraft in the myhtology section rather than the religion and spirituality section? It is a religion and a spiritual path, and it is followed by millions of people around the world. Why can't some people recognise it as legitimate?

Sarang, it is not imaginative at all. It is a very real religion. Don't be so ignorant.

I think it has to do more with Yahoo automatically categorizing the questions than anything. Certain keywords will cause Yahoo to suggest that the question be placed in that section, and if you don't unclick it, that's were it goes.

Also, some times people will post questions about witchcraft there because here there are so many fundies. You post a legitimate question here in regard to Paganism or anything related to it...you'll get a hoard of fundies telling you to repent or you'll burn in hell.

For many years it was only shown in fable, myths and fairy tales and then not in a good light. It became culturally ingrained to think of it that way - after all look at how Disney has portrayed witches in their movies. And likewise, practitioners of the the craft kept underground because of social and religious stigmas thus becoming for a large number of years more of a secret than anything else. It is perhaps only in the last 30 years has it been brought back out into the light.

It is a legitimate religious/spiritual path but when you have other religions spouting stuff likes ~thou shalt not suffer a witch to live~ overall acceptance will not be easy and will take a long time.

I think that witchcraft has been steryotyped too much for alot of people to recognise it as anything more than what you read as a child alongside dragons and fantasy, i think lack of knowledge is the main cause but that can be said for any religion.

The questioner is the one that decides what category to list their question in...I could only assume that serious practicers list in in religion and persons not familiar with it or who are investigating it would list it under mythology.

Wicca or witchcraft is a target belief on this site and draws alot of animosity. There are alot of religious people who hate witches.

I agree with you. I believe it is the second oldest practiced religion in the world.

To be honest, the majority here are either idiots or jerks. It's much safer for them to ask there.

Oh, and no Atheists too.

the major religions have armies to back themselves up...

Convert or die kind of stuff. Wicca never had that. so i guess they had a better marketing campain.
