I rescued my 2 kittens when they were little. My male sneezes until he gets the snot out and they both weeze. The vet gave me stuff that stopped it, but it would come back. He said that they might just have a life time sinus problems. But I was wondering if i can give them a decongestant to help break up the mucus and hopefully ellimanate the them sneezing snot all over the place? They are completely heealthy otherwise.

I wouldn't recommend giving any over the counter medicine to cats unless advised by your vet. Many human medicines are toxic to cats. Your cats could be suffering from an allergy rather than an illness so take a look at their environment and what you are feeding them. Try to avoid using an artificial cleaners and air fresheners and make sure they are fed on a high quality additive free food. You may want to try homeopathic remedies for allergies as that may help but again use specific animal ones.

. Cats are sensitive to many drugs. How old are the kittens now? How long has this been going on? Some upper respiratory infections may need several courses of antibiotics to cure. They may also need a different kind of antibiotic if they don't respond well to one kind. They also could have one of several viruses that cause a chronic snotty nose and sneezing such as Calici virus. Let your vet know what is going on, and if you need to do that but becarefull about the amount of stuff u give your cats plz gope this helps and god bless

Hi,
I strongly recommend to NOT give ANYTHING over the counter to cats without consulting a veterinarian. Cats are extremely sensitive to many drugs. Let your vet know what is going on, and if you need to, don't hesitate to get a second opinion. Good luck!

I've heard from vets that you can give some human medicines to your dog or cat, but the best person to answer this particular question would be your veterinarian. He or she is more familiar with your specific cats, and would be able to recommend a particular type of medicine and dosage for kittens.

You can use plain saline drops in the nose to help, or try spending 20-30mins in a steamy bathroom a few times a day.
I wouldnt recommend any type of over the counter medication, as most contain products that are toxic to cats.
