I got these DVD writable disks so I could watch my cam videos on tv instead of the computer, but the dvd player says "bad disk" whenever I try to play a burned dvd in it. Could this be a fault in the player itself or just simply bad disks as it says? They are supposed to be high quality TDK disks.

What brand is your DVD player?
Have you finalised the DVDs in the camera? If not, then a normal DVD player will not be able to make sense of the DVD contents. It will appear as a "bad disk" because the disk doesn't accord with what it is expecting. It is expecting structures such as a menu that will only be produced after the DVD is authored by being finalised.
If you are recording on RW media, then perhaps the DVD player cannot read those DVDs at all.
A DVD Recorder or PC could make sense of an unauthored DVD
It could be poor media. TDK disks are generally high quality, but are not so good in certain applications.
