Recently at a party I saw a 14 months old baby drinking coke cola in her bottle and another (3 years old) toddler drinking endless cans of coke cola all night. She must have drunk about 6 cans while I was there but she could have drunk more before or after I had left.

Don't you think its wrong for young children to be drinking drinks like that especially with all that sugar and caffine. It's like giving them coffee and drugs!

gadriel - your dentist suggested you gave your child diet coke??? Thats a first I have heard. Does your dentist have good teeth - that are not fake?

I may ask that question next time I see my dentist in a few months time for my 6 month check up.

It is absolutely wrong in my opinion!! Fizzy drinks cause gas, which means stomach aches in babies. Caffeine is a stimulant, also harmful to young children. Sugar will hype the child up for a while and then crash to tiredness. All these things at once is a total conflict to the body, especially in children. Personally, I think this is abuse and if it were me, I would report it as such, so that the parents could get educated for the child's sake.

That really is appalling!! And the sugar can ro their teeth, and from a bottle? These ppl have no shame. Children this age should be drinking diluted fruit juice at best. It is because the parents consistantly drink this garbage is a natural habit to just give it to the children as well. (Dont go thinking that I am against fizzy drinks at all I drink them on occassion myself, less than I used to) As it was a party the 3 yr old should be allowed a cup or two (as a treat) and the 18 month old perhaps a sip but 6 cans? Not many adults could put that much back! And I hate to see little kids with rotten teeth, so the parents should pay more attention because I bet the child might have been hyper active later with the sugar and caffeine.

Yes I think its very bad for children of that age to be drinking so many soft drinks Juice ,milk, water is way better for anyone. Plus they are way too young to get addicted to caffine they may not be able to sleep, they probably get gasy and have stomache aches. Wow! I cant believe some mother would let there 1yr old drink soda.... I wouldnt recomend it until they were 4 or 5 . Al thou we know its not good for anyone really, But even sweet tea would be better for these kids koolaid! B/c the carbonation is too much for such tiny tummies:( So the toddler wasas up all night thats probably from the sodas which means shell be sleeping all day or have sleeping problems poor kids I think maybe 1 or two a day at most for such a young child....

I see nothing wrong with a LITTLE soda on special occasions, but it should never go in a bottle, nor should a three year old be drinking it endlessly. They should get a couple of ounces in a special Dixie cup or something.

Those idiot parents letting their kids have coca-cola all night must have had two little kids bouncing off the walls, refusing to sleep at all that night! Serves them right.

I think it is totally wrong, the sugar content will give them a high chance of developing diabetes in later life........

I won't buy fizzy drinks unless its Christmas for my children but even then my youngest of 2 does not have any.........I will not buy coca cola full stop .........

some people are so ignorant I am sure they never read anything

My daughter is 2 1/2 yrs old, she still drinks water! I have twins who are 14 months old & I would never dream of giving them coke! Have you seen what it does to an old penny? imagine what it would do to their poor little tummies! Those parents need a stern talking to!

When my daughter was about one my family were all saying "Ah give her juice, the poor little thing, you're depriving her!". My health visitor told me otherwise! She has juice every now & then but only as a treat!

good question, I think its totally wrong to give kids fizzy drinks -im surprised that everyone else doesnt know this, maybe the mum was uneducated ?
strangely , my little girl at 8, has cavities and has never ever drunk fizzy drinks. she has only ever had water, milk or fruit juice. She prefers water.
My dentist told me to give her diet coke !!!!!!!
I havent because im worried about artificial sweeteners and chemicals. The advice we get is contrary and confusing so what is ok ? any dentist care to add their view ?

Yeah I couldn't agree more. Far too much sugar and caffeine in them. I never had fizzy drinks as a kid and I still dont really like them now. Far better to give kids squash (although these seem to have just as much sugar in them nowadays!) It will rot their teeth and 6 cans is definitely not good for anyones waistline!

Ew no, it is not okay. If the parents keep letting them drink that much as a baby, then when they'll grow up, they'll get use to the enviroment around them and contuie to drink pop soda, eat junk food, and grow an unhealthy lifestyle because as a child, they were to use to be around soda so thats the enivroment they grow up to be around. Get it? LOL.
