Well since I am a mechanic and own a 2000 Dodge Dakota with what sounds like the same problem here is my guess. The fuel cap is not closing properly or the seal is bad.
Dodge gas tanks have a bad habit of forming rust around the lip where you put the gas in. Any one of the three will prevent the cap from properly sealing the tank. While you drive a small pump pressurizes the fuel tank. If the system cannot hold the pressure you get a check engine light for EVAP leak. Just like the dealer found. Why they didn't investigate further and find the problem is beyond me, but I would guess the fuel cap.

oxygen sensor, water in the gas, or a number of many possiblities. Try turning the key to the on position and off again 3 times, this should clear it if there is truly nothing wrong. Do not start it.

it would help to know what was done then ,it may not be the same .your oil could be low or gas cap need be replaced .
there are garages that have diagnosis scanners that can pin point what it may be this time . they will cost less than the dealer . or you could buy your own scanner at a local parts store .

If all your fluids are up to snuff and you're not over heating, you might want to check the sending units. You have a sending unit for oil and another for cooling. One might be disconnected or broken, or it might be loose and getting shorted. Loose battery cables or a failing alternator will also give you a warning light. Check your connections and your belts.
