Then when I right click, the seach option is at the top, how do I put the open option on the top. Please

I'm not too sure about the previous answers to be honest. I have the same issue - I wrote a small bat file because I wanted to be able to print my directory listing to printer ratherthan the screen. When I changed the registry entries accordingly, I also changed the double click action too. (The double click action will be the first item that appears in the menu if you RightClick the icon). Ive actually got used to it so it doesnt really bother me anymore, but have a look at this as it may help you out!

Run a scan on your hard drive for program errors. I you're using XP open my computer icon, right click C, properties, top click tools tab and the error checking, check now button. That should fix your desktop icon opening search windows issue.

It means that you have uninstalled the programs or whatever that icon refers to. now the windows dont know where to look for that shortcut. if the shortcut refers to a program, it is no longer there. if it was a file then it has been deleted or shifted to some place else on your hard disk.
