when you over wash your hair your scalp tries to naturally moisturize itself (producing excess oil). so if you slowly cut back on washing it so much it will naturally stop . it's hard because you walk around looking like a grease bucket but it's what you have to do. to find products that will help you and your lifestyle better go to redkin.com they have this questionar that you fill out and it tells you which products to use its pretty cool. well hope this helps you....

...I googled this...
To take care of oily hair

Shampoo daily with a specially formulated cleanser for oily hair. Finding one that works for you will take time, with a trial and error approach.
Gently massage the scalp while shampooing hair and leave the lather on for at least five minutes before rinsing. Repeat right away if hair is particularly oily, and again later in the day, if necessary.
Skip the conditioner. Or, condition with an oil-free product; work a minimal amount into the hair tips only, not the roots; and, apply it only as needed.
Brush/comb hair briefly and infrequently. When working the brush or comb through the hair, avoid contact with the scalp. This helps prevent or limit the transfer of oil from the scalp to the hair.
If you have an oily scalp, use a shampoo that contains a detergent, such as ammonium or sodium lauryl sulfate. (Detergent ingredients are quite drying to skin and hair.)
Apply a mild astringent directly to the scalp for extra oil-fighting power.

The best way to do this is to choose a weekend where you're not going out and just not wash your hair for 3 or 4 days. It's yucky and annoying but this will fix things. Wait for four days before washing it. Then, when you finally wash it, wash it really well and pour a liter of water over it at the end with one tablespoon of vinegar (apple vinegar preferably). This should keep your hair clean for at least 4 days. Be careful not to wash it before those four days are over because you teach your scalp and hair about when to expect a washing.

Use a shampoo for oily hair.

Well i also have oilyhair that i have to wash every other day.
A way to help u is half an hour beforetaking your shower starting from today or whatever day u want put some vinegar on your skull and massage it for 2-3 minutes then leave it for that half an hour and wash it off and shower as u do normally.and itis always good to change your shampoo because that might also be the cause of it.

Your scalp produces oil...of course after not washing it for some time the oil builds up..however, washing too much strips away the oil and leaves your scalp dry..therefore, the scalp begins to produce MORE oil in order to correct the dryness...I wash mine ever 3 or 4 days and have no prob. Of course, my hair is a little dryer due to past frequent hair dying but still.

it proberbly wont get worse than two days, and its not healthy to wash ur hair more than that, or u strip it of its natural oils
its natural dont worry!

well you should wash it daily, and when you do make sure you use clear shampoos not the ones with a pearl sheen to it. those that have the pearl look contain conditioners in it which will add to the oil on your hair. also make sure you thoroughly wash out your conditioner. good luck
