You have to set some short term goals in order to get done what you need to get done. Goals that are achievable.

You remind me of me when I was in college. I felt the same exact way. So what I had to do to get myself focused on school and studying was get advice from my mom who is a retired teacher. What I learned was that I had to make a list of the things I wanted to achieve that particular day. Such as I would write on a list that I need to study math for two hours. So I would write down on paper that I would study at 7pm for one hour and then take a fifteen minute break and then study for another hour and then take another fifteen minute break which would be around 8pm, then I would go back and highlight the important stuff.

If I was reading a psychology book I would write down on paper that I would read a chapter, take ten minute break, read a chapter, take a break, and so on.

My list for the day would read something like this
Turn off TV, put phones on silent, and keep other distractions away.

1. Get your flash cards out so you can make some as you read or do math.
2. Study two hours of math
3. Schedule breaks- get up and walk around, go outside, eat something, smoke a cigarette, go to the bathroom
4. have snacks
5. Read chapters in Psych book
6. Make sure I highlight important stuff as I read
7. Check the sylubus to make sure all assignments are done
8. Check to see when upcoming tests or papers are
9. Write up my flash cards by putting the highlighted material on them.
10. Give myself a pat on the back.

This helped. I have three Bachelor degrees with good grades.

Create a plan/schedule and a commitment to study. Follow this plan as if your life or job or something important (like I don't know, maybe your grades, depended on it). Visualize how proud you will be after you spend your time studying. Feel how comfortable and at peace your mind is going to be after you can proudly say that you devoted necessary time to studying/reading the book.

Think about and determine the real reason that you so desire to procrastinate or not accomplish this task. I learned long ago that if I wanted to get alot of things done that I didn't care to do, I just had to get another task that I saw as worse than the others to prompt me to accomplish the old tasks, that no longer seemed so bad.

In school I feared being judged or not being perfect. I did not want to spend time studying/doing a paper if I was not going to earn high enough marks to meet my perfectionists needs. Just an example of one reason why I procrastinated. What is your reason?

Okay, well I had more to say, but I lost my train of thought again (temporarily) and feel I'm just rambling. You may have even stopped reading by now. Anyway, everyone is welcome to contact me vis Messenger or E-mail.

Take care and have a great day!

I am in EXACTLY THE SAME BOAT. I leave a class feeling like ok, this time I WILL do this! Then I go home and lose all motivation. I guess you really have to find ways to make it fun...use color, put on some music, build positive associations with studying so that you trick your mind to enjoy the process. For example, I have a midterm monday and I am studying by making cool powerpoint outlines for each chapter- I downloaded some pretty templates and I'm trying to have fun...I still give in to distractions, but its a process. Good luck!

Develop the habit of reading news papers and story books for atleast 2 hours every day. You can surely develop this habit in about two to three months. Thereafter, you should not feel restless when reading text/school books also.
