for some reason I detest the expression in other words it is insulting to me . But another take entirely or if I could be so presumptuous as to rephrase that , May I please paraphrase in my words in an attempt to clarify your meaning in my mind . or would this be an appropriate parallel . do you mean to say .....,
does your meaning denote or connote this ....,was I dreaming or did you just say ...you don't mean to say...I'm sure there are much better ones that I missed....
