My 10-month old pom developed a GI disturbance day-before -yesterday--had vomiting & diarrhea the whole night. Also, had fever( cause or effect?) the next day. Gave her a lot of ORS . Settled down 2 a marked degree BUT shivers every now and then, even in sleep, esp. on bending her head down 2 eat. Most importantly, she has withdrawn completely from playing and jumping around ( which earlier no power on earth could stop). Common sense tells me she is recuperating and is still not 100% fit and strong but I want someone more knowledgeable about animals 2 tell me that she will be fine soon.

Thanx 2 all the good souls who have answered till now! Here r a few details some of u have asked, She has had all her shots and I have dewormed her twice in 10 months. Thought she had fever coz her tongue was hotter than usual. Have given her a lot of Oral Rehydration Soln. n her tongue is moist. She is more or less fine (just 2day morning she was lusting after the mouse my cat had caught) but what bothers me are her shivering and subdued behaviour. And yes, she is an incorrigible scavenger n her symptoms had developed suddenly. Most sheepishly, I must tell u I hate her vet, I think he has time n money in his education. So dont ask me to go to him, he will kill her.

About the vet, I have said that he has wasted his time and money in his education. 'wasted ' is missing.

Get her to the vet as soon as possible. She might die from dehydration. I too have a small dog, and for some reason, when he has eaten something his tummy doesn't appreciate, he will have diarrhea and vomit. This happens to a lot of people and dogs, but he doesn't stop, even when his stomach is empty, only bile left. The most dangerous thing is that small dogs that have diarrhea and vomit over time as much as yours have done may easily dehydrate, possibly to a point that she is struggling to recuperate. Have it checked out quickly -- it is easy to remedy, but fatal if left untreated.
Best of luck to you and your pup.

Sorry your baby is sick. However, the only person qualified to give you the information you need is a vet. Also, she will prob need to be examined in person, not just have symptoms described. Things to consider are: Does she have all her shots
? If so, are they up to date? Has she been wormed? Has she been anywhere that she could have eaten something that has either poisoned her or made her sick? Did the symptoms start all at once, or gradually? These are just some things to think about because the more info you can provide, the better your vet will be able to help your dog. Good Luck and get her to the vet asap.

Hi March, I am sorry about your baby. I cannot tell you that he or she will be alright. I think she maybe trying to recover, but if she is still like this in a couple of day i would take her or him to the vet and have her or him check out again to be safe. That way you will beable to relax. A Friend who has 4 dogs and love all of them.

If you think your vet is an idiot then you better get another vet because YOUR DOG NEEDS ONE. People on the internet certainly aren't qualified to diagnose your dogs illnesses and prescribe treatment for them.

I think you need to talk with your vet to decide the right course of action. shivering could mean she is in pain. Try raising her food and water dish so she doesnt have to bend her head.

Only a veterinarian is qualified to tell you what you want to hear, and only after an examination.
