Speaking as single person who has been a teacher, I would have to say that actually married people are more suitable.

Specifically, married people with families. One of my greatest weaknesses as a teacher (I felt) was that I didn't actually have kids of my own. Parents get a pretty intensive set of lessons in how to deal with kids. I hadn't really dealt with kids at all since the time when I was one.

Also, I only ever got to see kids while they were at school. Parents, naturally, see their kids at other times, and in other situations, and it gives them a lot better insight into what makes their tiny little minds click, and why they seem to keep acting like irrational little crazy people.

I was also hungover a lot when I taught, because I was out at the clubs the night before. Presumably married couples would be home in bed by 7 pm (at least that's what seems to happen to most of my friends when they get married). This could possibly be of benefit to those who need to be teaching the next morning.
