I have learned that as many as 40% of illegals are actually passport overstayers. I know that Santa Monica, CA is a big haven for illegal British, Irish, and Germans. There are also a lot of illegal Canadians running around, too.

That is quite true. Its the media who places the focus on the hispanic community.

IN FACT ANYONE who overstays their tourist visa, passport, work permit or student visa without getting some alternate status by the time of the expiration date is an illegal immigrant AND are subject to deportation(supposed to be).
Unfortunately from my experience America is still very racist and the "white" illegal immigrants from those countries are often unheard of.

That the cold hard truth.

Of course visa overstayers are illegal too. (They aren't all or even mostly from Europe, though.) Homeland Security keeps putting of the visa exit tracking system that was supposed to be in place in 2005. They are currently discussing this very thing in
DC. Write to your Congressman that there have been too many delays, already.

By the way, the second biggest number if illegal immigrants come from India, and I believe the third biggest number come from China.

I believe your numbers are way off. Yes, this does happen. MY numbers say 8 out of 10 illegals are Mexicanos. Maybe the rest are Europeans.
In any event non of it should be permitted. Illegal means that it shouldn't be done and those that are caught breaking the law should be either punished or sent home.

Illegal immigrants are illegal immigrants.

It's a lot easier to cross legally or 'legally' and stay illegally than to cross illegally and stay illegally.

Many illegal immigrants from the north and the south actually cross legally or 'legally'.

I would think so if they are planning on staying over here. They should get deported too if they plan on staying here permantly in the US. They are just like the people that cross the borders illegally
