Pretty much the only way to get a "six-pack" (which is what I assume you mean by "flatten my stomach") is to cut fat completely from your diet....and i do mean completely.
That stubborn little belly-fat is usually the last to go, unless you're one of the lucky people who have the feature genetically. If you're not, theres a two step process to getting lean and cut in your abdominals;
DIET: Cutting the fat from your diet; i.e. Eating super lean beef instead of ground chuck, eating a lot of chicken and fresh fruit, taking supplements, NO processed foods and NO soda, would take care of the diet part of the equation. Then theres...
EXERCISE: First- Crunches, crunches, crunches. Crunches till your belly is on fire and your sides feel like you've gone 12 rounds with George Foreman.
Do an intensive torso and abdominal workout 2-3 times a week, allowing 2-3 days in between for your abdominals to heal and regrow.
Second- Cardio, cardio, cardio. Do at least a 20 minute fat burning cardio workout 2-3 times a week. And by intensive I don't mean whistling as you pedal the exercise bike while reading a magazine. I mean sweating, puffing, heart racing cardio.
Do these two things, persevere, and you'll be washing your clothes on your own stomach in no time. ;) Good Luck

Nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic load. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin and healthy. Salt has no calories but makes you fat and burning more calories does not help this fatness.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad fats, water retention and secret trick used by models to flatten their tummy before an event. Reading a book will take you hours but the information on a post, taking minutes to read, is not enough. The webpage below has just enough to know what you need to know. Links page has gov. BMI calculator to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age).
You can force your body to lose weight with not enough calories, but if you continue it, you will starve to death. With an abundance of super healthy foods, you lose weight just as fast, but only until you reach your ideal weight. You can continue eating this way the rest of your life and always be at your ideal weight.

Firstly, change your diet to low-fat products. Only take skim milk and no-fat yoghurts etc
Then, begin situps every day - start with ten. Hook your feet under your bed or a lounge chair and bend your knees. Put your hands behind your head and breathe out on the up movement. Start with 10 and increase in about a month until eventually you are comfortably doing 50 per day.

Sit ups are great for toning, but cardio is really important to lose fat around the tummy area.

Eat less, sit ups every day, and look at yourself in the mirror often.
Hang out with buff folks, and compare yourself to them. Do not hang out with chubby folks - you tend to become who you compare yourself to.
