Materially there is difference between a name and its object.
Spiritually there is no such material difference God and His name.
Therefore if one always chants the name of God one is always in the presence of God forever.
By chanting the Hare Krishna mahamantra the material mind is spiritualised and can feel the presence of God forever spirituallly.
The Sanskrit word mantra is a combination of two syllables, man and tra. Man means "mind," and tra means "deliverance." Therefore a mantra is that which delivers you from mental concoction, from hovering on the mental plane.
So if you chant this mantra—
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
—very soon you'll find that you are coming from the darkness to the light.
