If an atheist says, "Oh my God" it is because it is instilled and brainwashed into their heads at such an early age with no alternative that it becomes a habit. When an atheist comes to realization that there is no god they still have to contend with the remnants of their brutal and primitive brainwashing. It is unfair that atheists are permanently damaged by brainwashing techniques of heartless ignorant christians and other religious fanatics. It is child abuse to teach them religion at any early age. Let them decide for themselves what to believe. I used to say, "Jesus H. F__kin Christ" myself. You do have to go through christ to speak to god right?

Sorry for replying your question and not being an atheist - I am a pagan and I make a point of always saying Oh My Gods.

Yep, and I often note the irony in saying it. But it's not significant in a religious sense; it's just a part of the English language, much like saying "ouch" when you're stung by a bee.

Of course. It's a common phrase in the English language, and requires no belief in anything. You don't have a monopoly on gods, you know.

I thought about that once and realized, if I don't believe in god, why would I say something like that? Now I try to catch myself everytime and say something different.

I only wish that God would come into their hearts & when they said,"OH MY GOD" they really felt what it was like to have our Savior Jesus Christ in their life. They can't imagine what a warm feeling it is to know Jesus died for all of us, even atheists if they'd accept Jesus as their Savior.

Athiests truly remember god only when they are in real danger,, when their ship is sinking in the ocean for example...
all the other times they mention god as any other word....

No, I avoid such obscene language unless I'm in the presence of a godbot, then it's "jeeezus h. pig-ckuffing christ!" or something similar.

Most of the time, it's,

"Aw, man!"

"What on Earth...?"

or from the candy bar ad, "Great googly moogly...".

Godbot; did you know that by saying oh my god, you are taking the name of the heavenly father in vain?
