What you have stated would mean that you would believe nothing if you understood the philosophical background of the nature of reality or truth.

Describe the concepts of love, charity, hate, fear, or sadness to me using your criteria. If you attempted to do so, you would soon find yourself tangled up in nonsense about seratonin levels, biochemistry, or pupil dilations. And when you stood back and looked at what you had written you would realize, assuming you are a rational being, that what you have just written "makes no sense". We all know what these concepts are, but describing them is insufficient at best or futile at worst.

Once you accept the fact that you cannot rely upon the criteria you have stated for everything you will acceptably believe, then the door is open for beliefs of many things that will never be fully validated by observation or science.

So, what are we to do in this case? Give up and believe nothing? Hardly likely, instead we use our rational minds to evaluate anything we encounter. But our evaluation will be based on our own subjective world views.

But, for the sake of argument, assume I agree with everything you assert as your criteria. But I must now ask you to define some terms. For example, what "observation" are you implying? Your own or someone else's? Surely it must be the latter, for you cannot observe everything that you believe. So you must accept the observations of others, no?

By scientific grounding are you assuming that everything you believe must have passed a scientific method litmus test? Or perhaps some level of acceptable Type I or Type II statistical error in the hypothesis being tested?

And so it goes, until we reach some reduction to absurdity in what you are asserting.

But again, assuming your assertion above is correct, how is what I state below any different from what you assert above?

**There has been no single scientific test, observation, or discovery, that has shown the historicity of the Bible or its Christian doctrines to be wrong.**

My statement above meets all the criteria you have asserted. If you can supply a single existence proof that invalidates my statement, I will be happy to concede your manifest expertise.

So does this mean you can not believe in "Imagination", "Creativity", "personal likes and dislikes not attributable to heredity, environment, injury or brain malfunction"; or to the many other subjects that can have no scientific/mathematical proofs simply because the standards of science/observation either hold no weight whatsoever in those fields or cannot be applied?

I pity you, you empty excuse for a person.

If you only believe in what you are able to observe or what you think is science then you are limited by your limited knowledge and skills. If you have no skill at instruments that allow you to see beyond your physical senses you then block out most of all that exist. If you have no skill at reason and logic then you eliminate that ability to go beyond what is already known. Almost all advances in science are the result of reason and logic. This is the same as closing your eyes and denying that the sky is blue.

Who are the crazy ones Christians or Atheists? In many cases both. Yes you need faith. No you do not need proof. However I guarantee that as you strive to follow God's commandments you will get all the proof you will ever need. Anyone who tells you other wise probably hasn't tried hard enough.
God gives commandment

Option 1
You have faith in God but do nothing.

Result
End of story. You slowly loose you faith and God is still waiting for you to obey.

Option 2
You have faith in God, and because of that faith you strive to obey his word.

Result
You receive the promised rewards for your obedience and end up seeing the proof that exists all around you. As you continue this process you find more strength to get through the hard times in life. you find yourself more at peace than you ever have in your life. your fears melt away. You start to feel more confident. You find it easier to be happy. Little by little more and more starts happening that you just cannot explain away and you start to realize how shallow and close minded the "scientists" are. Thus you have your proof. this proof cannot be explained to those who are to closed to take the time to understand.

It's not a question of crazy, it's a question of what you can handle, and what you can't. Some people can't accept that the consequences they face are a result of their actions. They'd rather make themselves feel better by saying that the "supreme being" has forgiven them, so they have no reason to feel bad, or fix anything. Christians just delude themselves because that's all they can handle at the time...when they are strong enough to accept the world is it really is, they'll start accepting what they see/observe, instead of denying it based on their own senile wishes.

An atheist professor of philosophy speaks to his class on the problemscience has with God, the Almighty. He asks one of his new students to stand and.....Prof: So you believe in God?Student: Absolutely, sir.Prof: Is God good?Student: Sure.Prof: Is God all-powerful?Student: Yes.Prof: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to God to healhim. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn't. How isthis God good then? Hmm?(Student is silent.)Prof: You can't answer, can you? Let's start again, young fellow. IsGod good?Student: Yes.Prof: Is Satan good?Student: NoProf: Where does Satan come from?Student: From...God...Prof: That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?Student: Yes.Prof: Evil is everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything.Correct?Student: Yes.Prof: So who created evil?(Student does not answer.)Prof: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All theseterrible things exist in the world, don't they?Student: Yes, sir.Prof: So, who created them?(Student has no answer.)Prof: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and servethe world around you. Tell me, son...Have you ever seen God?Student: No, sir.Prof: Tell us if you have ever heard your God?Student: No, sir.Prof: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, and smelled yourGod? Have you ever had any sensory perception of God for that matter?Student: No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.Prof: Yet you still believe in Him?Student: Yes.Prof: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your GOD doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?Student: Nothing. I only have my faith.Prof: Yes, faith. And that is the problem science has.Student: Professor, is there such a thing as heat?Prof: Yes.Student: And is there such a thing as cold?Prof: Yes.Student: No sir. There isn't.(The lecture theatre becomes very quiet with this turn of events.)Student: Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, megaheat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don't have any thing called cold. We can hit 458degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can'tgo any further after that. There is no such thing as cold.Cold is only a word we use to describe the absenceof heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold isnot the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence ofit.(There is pin-drop silence in the lecture theatre.)Student: What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?Prof: Yes. What is night if there isn't darkness?Student: You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. Youcan have low light, normal light, brightlight, flashing light.... But if you have no lightconstantly, you have nothing and it is called darkness, isn'tit? In reality, darkness isn't. If it were you would beable to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?Prof: So what is the point you are making, young man?Student: Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.Prof: Flawed? Can you explain how?Student: Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue thereis life andthen there is death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the conceptof God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can'teven explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has neverseen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the oppositeof life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as asubstantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence ofit. Now tell me, Professor. Do you teach your students that they evolvedfrom a monkey?Prof: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes,of course, I do.Student: Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?(The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to realize where theargument is going.)Student: Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at workand cannot even prove that this processis an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching youropinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?(The class is in uproar.)Student: Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor'sbrain?(The class breaks out into laughter.)Student: Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's brain, felt it, touched or smelled it?..... No oneappears to have done so. So, according to the establishedrules of empirical, stable, demonstrableprotocol, science says that you have no brain, sir. Withall due respect, sir, how do we then trust yourlectures, sir?(The room is silent. The professor stares at the student.)Prof: I guess you'll have to take them on faith, son.Student: That is it, sir.. The link between man & god is FAITH. That is allthat keeps things moving & alive.Guess who that young man was ?ALBERT EINSTEIN......
