My 3-year-old chihuahua puppy has been throwing up this whote clear foamy substance and I'm really worried. She also has diarrhea. Does anyone know what this is and how to prevent it?

The clear, foamy substance is just saliva (or water if you've been letting her drink) This means she just doesnt have anything left in her tummy to vomit up. Its hard to say how to prevent it without knowing what caused it. You should see a vet asap to figure it out. Being that she is such a small dog, they dehydrate quickly and if she cant keep water down she'll need to get some fluids either IV or under her skin, along with meds to control the vomiting.

Ok well the people who answer question are RUDE!! I would suggest that if your vet is open take the little baby in. If not try to get your puppy to drink lots of water to keep it from getting dehydrated and then take it is as soon as you can. But just stay calm so that it doesn't get scared and make things worse!! Best of luck

No one here can diagnose and treat a gastrointestinal problem over the internet. Your dog needs to see a vet before she dehydrates and becomes seriously ill. Take her in first thing Monday morning if she is not over this.

It is hard to say for sure but it is very possible she got hold of a frog and bit down on it. I had a dachshund do the same thing about 12 years ago. It bothered me more than it did the dog.
