If you are a permanent resident you should not receive a 1042-S unless you had US source income in the year you became a permanent resident and the income arose before you immigrated.

Form 1042-S is used to report a Foreign Person's US Source Income Subject to Withholding.

A payer making payments to a foreign individual or entity of reportable income (i.e. rents, royalties, compensation for independent services performed in the US, gambling winnings, etc.) must file a Form 1042-S for each recipient who receives the income.

If you received this type of income you should have received a Form 1042-S.

Here is the form and its instructions.
