The independent variable is the parameter that the experimenter can change at will. In this case, it would be the type of fertilizer. The dependent variable is some factor that is measured (rather than set deliberately) and is assumed to be affected by the changes in the independent variable. In this case, it would be the growth of the beans.

You plan an experiment to test the growth of beans using three differentfertilizers. What are the dependent and

independent variables in the experiment?
---The dependent variable is the growth of the beans and the independent variable is the fertalizer. OR
---The dependent var. is the type of fretalizer and the indep. variable is the bean? OR
---The dep. variable is the type of beans and the indep. is the type of fertalizer

The dependent variable is the variable that you are measuring. This would therefore be the growth of the beans.

The independent variable is the one that is being changed, which would be the type of fertilizer.

The controlled variable is all other variables in the experiment, such as the type of bean.

The answer is therefore the first one, "The dependent variable is the growth of the beans and the independent variable is the fertalizer."

Yeah the first one. Think of it this way. What are you changing? Your control situation would be a bean with no fertilizer. Then in your other tests, you are changing the fertilizer. So the fertilizer is indepenent.

The thing you cannot physically change is the bean growth rate.
You can't put two different beans in the same fertilizer and demand one bean grows faster.....so thats the dependent variable.

The beans take lots longer to cook dinner than different vegetables; so in case you place them in collectively the vegetables turn to mush previously the beans are performed. Plus soaking black beans facilitates do away with a number of the ink so the broth isn't organic black.
